Your skin may be incredibly vulnerable to hyperpigmentation post-laser tattoo removal. Limiting sun exposure between treatments will reduce the amount of pigmentation in the area, therefore reducing the risk of side effects. Wear a sunblock SPF of 25 or higher to protect against UVA/UVB rays over the area for the full time between sessions.

You can begin to apply makeup (eyebrow makeup, concealer, etc) to the area around 3-4 days post-laser tattoo removal. Our goal is to avoid interfering with the immediate swelling process and let your skin resume to normal before introducing other elements to the skin.

Immediately following your appointment, you may notice your eyebrow hairs appear white or frosted. This is due to the laser temporarily removing the melanin present in your eyebrow hairs. This is 100% temporary and you will notice your hair color begin to return once your growth cycle has renewed. We recommend tinting the eyebrows 5-7 days after your laser session to help enhance the appearance. 

Within the first 8 weeks post laser treatment, you will notice your eyebrow tattoo vary in intensity. Some days the tattoo may appear darker and some days it will appear as if no ink is in the skin. You must remember, this is a process of your body breaking down the elements of the tattoo ink and flushing it through your lymphatic system. Please be patient.

Our Duality laser uses innovative technology to selectively target unwanted tattoo ink without damaging surrounding skin tissue. That said, patients may experience temporary redness, itchiness, swelling, scabbing, blistering, and/or skin discoloration. Changes in pigment color for permanent makeup are common. These side effects are natural reactions to the laser and will heal over the weeks following treatment. Detailed aftercare instructions will be given to each client to ensure their skin is taken care of outside of our practice.

Laser tattoo removal is the safest method for removing unwanted tattoos. This non-invasive procedure utilizes advanced FDA-approved laser technology to ensure the safest, most effective results. Our laser technicians are well-trained and certified in operating Q-switched technology, and in using customized protocols for each skin type and unique tattoo.

Laser treatment is a very fast procedure. Depending on the size of the tattoo being treated, a single session can last as little as 1 to 15 minutes.

The laser feels similar to a rubber band or bacon grease snapping against the skin. Clients with a lower pain tolerance have described the sensation as similar to getting a tattoo. Overall, the procedure is very tolerable.

Her Velvet Hand uses the Zimmer Cryo 6 cooling device to deliver maximum comfort and skin numbing throughout the entirety of your treatment, even while the laser is in use. Not only does the Zimmer Cryo alleviate the skin, but it also reduces unwanted risks of thermal injury.

Numbing cream is available for purchase at the studio, which you may apply 30-45 minutes prior to your service to help alleviate discomfort. Your artist can apply topical numbing cream for an additional fee prior to your appointment. Please allow up to 20 minutes additional time for this option.

The number of treatments needed is different for every client and depends on a variety of factors including your tattoo’s age, colors, location, ink density, patient health, pre-existing scarring, and more. On average, most clients need 6 to 7 treatments for complete removal of permanent makeup and 8 to 12 treatments for complete removal of traditional tattoos.

Laser tattoo removal speeds up the natural fading process your immune system carries out over many years. During treatment, the laser directs light energy into the skin where it is selectively absorbed by the unwanted ink particles. The absorption, or light energy, causes the ink particles to heat up and shatter into tiny fragments. The weeks following treatment, your immune system removes the fragmented particles, causing your tattoo to fade. This process is repeated over multiple treatments until your desired look is achieved.
